“I am the master of my fate…….” and so are YOU!

I have learned over the past 7 months through reading books (I love to read books that teach me things!) that everything in our life is a consequence of a choice. No matter how big or small. You chose everything that is in your life. And if you don’t like it, you are simply allowing it in your life, and tolerating it for some reason.

The other thing I am learning, is that the comfort zone is a nice place….. but NOTHING grows there. And I am learning to stay OUT of the comfort zone. Always changing, and always enjoying my present days and learning new htings and getting to know new people and perspectives.

There IS such a thing as being TOO careful.

“You CAN be too careful, too cautious, not only planning for marriage or a different change in your life, but in planning anything in the world where things GET DONE. The standards CAN be too high…. The test of a successful person is not an ability to eliminate all problems before they arise, but to meet and work out difficulties when they do arise. We must be willing to make an intelligent compromise with perfection lest we wait forever before taking action. It’s still good advice to cross bridges as we come to them.” And later in the chapter, in BIG letters: “DESTROY FEAR THROUGH ACTION.” The Magic of Thinking BIG

What are you stressing over that can be conquered by simply not tolerating it any longer and discovering what it is you can change about YOURSELF to help fix it? I believe that most changes HAVE to start with US. A change of perspective, some humble pie, some realizing that you might be holding too high a standard for something. And don’t misunderstand me——– there ARE things you need to hold your ground on—– but take a look at what your stand on something may be causing you to miss, and you just might need to re-evaluate and change.

I love this poem, and have finally come to understand the last two lines. It is about CONTROLLING your thoughts, and learning to manage your thinking.

I always had an understanding that if I took care of my body, I would feel better…. but until I actually did it, and pushed through my fears, apprehensions, self imposed barriers and suffered a few days and nights with personal struggles to do this, I didn’t find out, that this is something that I need to do daily. Exercise is like brushing our teeth. Its just something that we need to do to prevent so many other issues, and beyond that, effective exercise helps us feel good on so many levels DAILY. Not just preventing health issues that may arise the future if we neglect to care for our bodies. Through exercise, I am learning to manage my body. I am coming to understand its cues and patterns and I am learning to care for it so much better than I every knew how before! Its incredible! I am more aware of the miracle of my body, and the processes and just the awesomeness and blessing that is mine to have a body that works right, that can take so much abuse/and or accidents and still heal and recover. I am learning to MASTER my physical body.

So now I have learned, that our minds and our thinking can also be mastered. This is something that is a new concept to me. I had learned about it way back in elementary school when good teachers and my parents would talk about having happy thoughts or caring for others without worrying what they looked like or how they acted. And as I got older taking psychology classes in high school and learning about how and why we think certain things. Always interesting, but never life changing. I have read in these past few months (since its part of my job) several books about how to manage your thinking and start to master your thought patterns…. it has been an incredible journey for me. I had many misconceptions about the reasons people do things, and I am understanding so much more about Spirituality and how our minds are incredible machines….. if anything else— I am becoming more aware of my Spiritual self and understanding how that all works.
I know that some of this will go over your head—– it did for me for YEARS. But just know, that you ARE in control of your life– more than you know. And that you ARE amazing. Each person here on earth is a son or daughter of God that is here for a reason, a purpose. And has a soul that has existed for an eternity and you CAN tap into that immense knowledge of who you were before and those talents and traits you had before you were born into mortality and charged with finding those talents and having a wonderful life as you learn to manage your thoughts, and live a faith filled life. YOU hold the reigns to your life. God has given us the gift of Agency, and the unmatched gift of forgiveness and mercy. So as we make mistakes, we CAN change and do better. And more importantly, others around you CAN change and do better, too.
