A Day in my shoes….. Dec 2, 2014

“What do you DO all day?”

I did a few posts, oh MONTHS ago outlining some of my days, and I know many of my readers enjoyed being in my head for a day…. oh I mean, my shoes……. but really….. in my head…… ha!

Here is my daily grind from today…..

Today was exhausting, valuable, humbling, inspiring, and full of LIFE!

It started at 5am as I woke up to take my 7yr old to yhe hospital for an out patient procedure for an ongoing tear duct/sinus issue she’s had since birth.

We got home at 8:15, and I got my hubby off to work, fed and dressed the toddler which included a wrestling match between diaper, pants, toddler and my legs and even my nose joined the wounded area of the scene. Then I glanced at the clock.

“Just barely enough time to workout- if I skip the cool down!”

Which meant running to my room, changing clothes probably faster than Superman…. and then down to the basement to kick some P90X3 into gear….. or whatever happened down there…..but I remember there was sweat and my glutes and triceps are hurting today, so I must have worked something! YES!

9:30 we’re dropping off the girls to school…

Then back home to snack (which involved honey on my pants, yogurt down the sleeves of my toddler, pomegranate juice on my shirt, and a sticky smile or two). Now for some educational games for my son on the computer (and we’ll hope the toddler watches nicely….. on that chair…….and keeps his hands to himself…… while I shower and get myself ready for the day.

Well, SUCCESS! I’m showered AND dressed, and no one died while I was in there! I’m getting really good at the 5 minute showers. Don’t judge that strip of long pit hair……lol! I miss a spot every now and then, ok!

A quick fold of a load of laundry, Coach my health challengers online and do some work for an hour as a Beachbody coach reading personal development books while my toddler sits next to me with 101 Dalmations and proceeds to rip the back cover paper off the hard cover… but hey—- just keep doin’ it kid….. I’m deep in this book, and its filling my leadership bucket! I’m thankful for cover paper right now! ha!

11:30 brings pick up time for my girls (they are in a private school, organized as a ‘One Room School House’ and school is only 2 hrs a day) AND bus pickup time for my 5 yr old son, and carpool time for my daughters gymnastics which starts at 11:40am.

Baby fell asleep on the way home from gymnastics drop off, so I head home and put him down for a nap.

Time for lunch for me…..lets see…… groceries are low……. looks like a few pieces of lunch meat, some crackers and salsa are going to do. And a few minutes to do some Team coach training and motivation for my coaching Team helping them build their home businesses.

12:35 brings pick up time from gymnastics, and lunch for the girls. Man. When that baby is asleep its sure nice! 🙂

1:15 brings a quick moment to slip out of the house and visit a neighbor and dear friend of mine I haven’t been able to chat with for over 6 months- my 10 yr old was notified and can come over across the street to let me know when the baby wakes up…. YAY for that daughter! My angel, my responsible and wonderful 10 yr old!!! A daily blessing for me!

And at 2pm I’m back folding another load of laundry amidst dancing with the 19 yr old and trying to keep him off the counter tops….which brings about an impromptu game of hide and seek in the kitchen, and fake cake baking with the pots and pans…….

3:00 Means my son is almost home from school- ah! There he is! Crying? Oh… That bully again… Some kids are so rude….. And snack time…. which brought the toddler into the pantry and he did his usual rearranging of the canned corn on the bottom shelf of the pantry… bringing it to the dining table and then climbing onto the table and building pyramids with them and then throwing them……. ok. Put that away……

3:40 brings 2 piano students whom I love! (I gave up my 22 student studio last year when I decided that health coaching was going to work better for my family and finances….)
And Who knows what really goes on during lessons with my four kids……. I hear some thumping, but—- no crying….. so all is well…… right???? Mmmmhhmmmm……

4:45 the piano kids get picked up and I go get the mail and notice a mysterious medical bill that claims we didn’t pay them over $300… Hmmmm??? But I called and got it resolved by 5:15, by which time I realize dinner is needing some thought- OH! And my back has been hurting and so I hurried and called our chiropractor to schedule an appointment for the next morning… ok. Got that done… oh ya—- back to dinner….. lets see what is in the freezer….. Sausage. Lots of sausage…..

and a quick, “HEY KIDS! Daddy will be home in a few minutes! Lets clean up the house so he thinks its been clean all day! I mean……. lets clean up because we need to!” And miraculously, it got cleaned up! (Tender mercy from God right there. THANK YOU!)

Looks like sausage, eggs and pancakes with some home processed berry juice and apple slices for dinner it is. And I know groceries are dangerously low… So I take 20 minutes to plan my menus and make a list for the next 7 days….

6:20 brings end of dinner and a realization that I really need to do the grocery shopping…… after all, there is not a DROP of toothpaste left in the house…. and…..I see that “look” in my husbands eyes as he strolls through the pantry and isn’t finding “normal” foods……

So I take off with two kids and leave two with dad, with the goal that we’ll be back for some Family Night edification before 7:30….

We get home at 8pm, kids get ready for bed, we chat about our days, eat a bit of chocolate, read scriptures, pray together, family hugs, and then bedtime for the kids. Hugs and kisses and last potty chances until 8:30. YAY! Bed time!!!!!

Ok….. am I only one that feels this way sometimes?? ^^^^^^

Daddy does dishes and works out (POINTS for DAD!) while mom writes this blog post and answers a few messages and gathers her sanity back (Is that possible?)…

And then she has a quick call from an amazing woman to confirm plans for the decorations needed for the Church Christmas Dinner and Program that she is in charge of……. table cloths and mini lights are the issue…… hmmmm…..

My eyes are drooping, but I really wanted to finish that chapter of my book… a quick chat with the dear husband, and a report of his work day and his gratitude that the house was clean when he got home. (POINT for me!) A kiss from him, and then he’s off for some popcorn and Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D…….

I change into my jammies…… read 2-3 pages of my book, and then I’m out.

What a day.
Productivity is what you decide it will be.

I am so blessed, and hope I get a good nights sleep! 🙂
